Malaysia's November PPI falls to 2.9pc on year

Malaysia's producer price index (PPI) for local production decreased 2.9 per cent year-on-year in November, according to the Malaysian Statistics Department.

The official statistics said in a statement on Monday that the decrease in the overall index was mainly due to agriculture, forestry and fishing which plunged 22.7 per cent, manufacturing fell 1.8 per cent and water supply dropped 0.1 per cent.

Conversely, the index of mining and electricity, and gas supply rose 4.5 per cent and 1.2 per cent respectively, reports Xinhua.

As comparison, the producer price index rose 0.7 per cent year-on-year in October.

As compared to the previous month, the PPI shrank 2.8 per cent in November, dragged by index of mining, agriculture, forestry and fishing, manufacturing.
