JU chemistry dept hosts reception for freshers

The Chemistry department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Monday accorded a reception to the newly admitted students under academic session 2017-18 and gave farewell to the outgoing students of the department.

'Rashayan Sangsad', the student organisation of the department, organised the function at the 'Gallery Room' of the department.

Presided over by Chairman of the department Prof Dr Nurul Abser, noted writer, researcher and former teacher of the department Dr Rabiul Islam addressed the function as the chief guest.

The department students received the freshers warmly and bade farewell to the master's students under academic session 2012-13 of the department, reports UNB.

Conducted by President of 'Rashayan Sangsad' Prof Dr Mamun Hossain, former JU Vice-chancellor and former Public Service Commission member Prof Dr Shariff Enamul Kabir, senior teacher of the department Prof Dr Md Elias Molla and Prof Dr Nurun Nahar addressed the function among others.

At the function, a 14-member new executive committee of 'Rashayan Sangsad' was announced for the next one year with Debashis Kumar Barman of Master's and Atikur Rahman Sabbir of fourth year as vice-president (VP) and general secretary (GS) respectively.

The daylong programme also featured a colourful cultural function. Over 400 teachers and students of the department enjoyed the function.
