The core goals of this project is to establish a regional network of higher education institutions, improve teaching, learning and research to support graduate employability and improve the higher education management of the country, according to a press release of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan said around 3.8 million students in tertiary level as well as teachers and researchers are expected to be immensely benefited from the HEAT project, reports UNB.

It is anticipated that UGC shall be the implementing agency of project, said UGC Chairman while addressing a workshop on the proposed HEAT project at UGC auditorium on Saturday.

The UGC organised the workshop following the success of Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP).

The design of five-year-long HEAT project is expected to be completed in June 2019, after extensive consultations of the relevant stakeholders and citizens, it said.
