PM donates Tk 100m to BSMMU poor patients’ fund

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday donated Tk 100 million in aid of the poor patients of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

She donated the amount to “BSMMU Oti Daridra Rogi Kalyan Tahabil”, a fund meant for the very poor patients, at a function at her official Ganabhaban residence in the city.

BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Kanak Kanti Barua received a cheque for the money from Sheikh Hasina.

Other senior officials of the university were also present on the occasion, reports BSS.

At the function, the prime minister also gave financial assistance of Tk 21.5 million to 14 individuals, including noted film actor Prabir Mitra, film actress and dancer Nutan and folk song ‘Samrat’ (king) Abdul Kuddus Boyati.
