The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday approved submission of a charge-sheet against former chief engineer of Power Development Board (PDB) Md Shahidul Islam in a graft case.

The commission at its meeting approved the charge-sheet and asked its investigation officer to submit it before court as soon as possible.

On October 25, 2017, ACC deputy director SMM Akhter Hamid Bhuiyan filed the case with Ramna Police Station in the capital for allegedly acquiring illegal wealth worth Tk 2.442 million.

The case was filed under the sections 26 (2) and 27 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, reports BSS.

According the case statement, Shahidul started submission of tax return from 1987-88. In his tax return, Shahidul did not mention his immovable properties although his wife Shamima Alam, who is a housewife, had a flat worth over Tk 1.47 crore at Gulshan in the capital.

The flat was brought by paying Tk 24,42,495 from Shahidul’s bank account.

However, Shahidul in his tax return showed the immovable properties of only Tk 26,52,359.
