Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader Friday said the party’s citizens' gathering on Saturday (tomorrow) at Suhrawardy Udyan is not to counter BNP’s programme.

"Tomorrow's citizen gathering is not any counter programme of BNP's rally and AL does not organise any counter programme," he said.

He said this while visiting the preparation of the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan, reports BSS.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to speak as the chief guest while Convener of Nagorik Committee emeritus Professor Dr Anisuzzaman will preside over the programme.

Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister said those, said AL's programme was scheduled far earlier than BNP's November 12 rally.

"BNP followed the AL programme," he said.

AL Presidium Member and Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, AL Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, State Minister for Jute and Textile Mirza Azam, AL Organising Secretary AKM Enamul Haque Shamim and Cultural Affairs Secretary Ashim Kumer Ukil were also present.

Nagorik Committee is organising the rally at 2.30 pm marking the UNESCO recognition of historic March 7 speech of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as part of world's documentary heritage.
