Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said the government will bring militant leader Jahidul Islam Mizan alias ‘Boma Mizan’ back from India.

“We have a prisoner exchange deal with India and we are already swapping prisoners. We will also bring him (Mizan) back in time,” he told the media in Dhaka on Friday, reports bdnews24.com.

India’s National Investigation Agency arrested Mizan, 38, also known by aliases Kausar and Munna, in Bengaluru last Monday.

The operative of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) was wanted there for his alleged involvement in the Bodh Gaya explosion in Bihar.

In Bangladesh, he has been sentenced to different terms in prison, including for life, on various charges.

The Rapid Action Battalion arrested Mizan, the most wanted JMB explosives expert from Jamalpur Sadar, in 2009.

Militants snatched Mizan and two other JMB leaders away from police in a daring attack on a moving prison van at Trishal Upazila in Mymensingh on Feb 26, 2014.

Police announced Tk 500,000 reward for information leading to Mizan’s arrest.

He was sentenced to life in prison for his involvement in a bomb attack on a court in Chattogram in October, 2005.
