BGB seizes 18 gold bars in Satkhira

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive recovered 18 gold bars (worth Tk 8.8 million) from Kakdanga bordering area in Sadar upazila of Satkhira in the early hours of Tuesday.

Gaining information that a big consignment of gold is being smuggled to India, a team of BGB conducted a drive in the area at around 3:30am, said Major Syed Fazle Hossain, deputy commanding officer of BGB-33 battalion.

Sensing presence of BGB, the gang fled the scene leaving a packet behind, reports UNB.

Later, BGB members recovered the gold bars weighing 2.334 kilograms from inside the packet.
