UNB said the rescued boy was identified as Jaynal Abedin Jihadi, son of Abul Hayat hailing from Kacharipara area of the Sadar upazila of Chapainawabganj.

OC (Officer-in-Charge) of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station Saber Reza Ahmmed said Jihadi was abducted on January 7 by Mahbub Alam, son of Azahar Ali of Manchshar village, who then demanded Tk 60,000 from Abul Hayat as ransom.
On information, the police started rescue work and traced Jihadi to the kidnapper's residence in Lalmonirhat, he added.

The OC said Mahbub built up a friendship with Jihadi's family over the phone about two years ago and kidnapped the boy while visiting the family on January 7.
