Two get life for murder in C’nawabganj

A court in Chapainawabganj on Monday sentenced two people to life imprisonment for murdering a man five years ago.

Court sources said Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Shawkat Ali awarded the verdict with the convicts in the dock and fined each of them Tk 50,000, in default, to suffer six months more in jail.

The convicts are Bogdad, 46, son of Golam Mohammad of Chakbaharom village under Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila and Md Saddam, 28, son of Md Momin of the same area.

According to the prosecution, Bogdad and Gulam Mohammad hacked their neighbour Mohammad Lutfar Rahman to death for keeping cow dung in front of their house on August 25, 2012.

The victim’s wife Morium Begum filed a murder case with the police the next day. The police after investigation filed charge-sheet in the murder case implicating seven suspects on June 30, 2013, reports BSS.

After hearing the witnesses, the court punished the duo and acquitted the other five.
