DDMR implements dozens of projects in Mymensingh

Directorate of Disaster Management and Relief (DDMR) implemented numerous development projects under social safety net programme of the present government during the last 9 years in Mymensingh district.

DDMR sources said during the period the directorate repaired 5,395 kilometres of rural roads as well as conducting earth filling at 2,990 religious, educational and socio-cultural organisations in all the 13 upazilas and 10 pourasabhas of the district.

The DDMR spent Tk 620 million and gave 62 thousand metric tonnes of rice for implementation of the projects. As a result over half a million poor and landless people were benefitted from the development.

In addition, the directorate constructed and repaired 8245 kilometres of rural roads and conducted earth fillings at 31,326 religious, educational and social service oriented clubs at en expense of Tk 1.05 billion under test relief (TR) programme during the period.

The sources said 1.2 million poor people received benefits from the projects.

The directorate spent Tk 1.3489 billion for constructing bridges and culverts in the district during the period, BSS reported.

Besides, over 435,000 day labourers got employment opportunities under the employment generation programme for the poor.
