Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia on Thursday asked his officials to wear riot gear (helmet, bulletproof jacket and leg-guard) while performing professional duties for safety.

“It would not be right to perform duties without wearing riot gear for the sake of own safety,” he said in a donation giving programme at the DMP headquarters here.

He asked the police officials not to use mobile phone at the time of duty.

The DMP chief distributed Taka 2.07 million as donation among 61 police officials who suffered injuries in various incidents while they were on-duty from the DMP Traffic Welfare Fund. Besides, family members of two late police officials have also been given Tk 500,000 each, while Tk 100,000 each to two injured police officials from Prime Minister’s Welfare Fund in the programme.

“We have taken the DMP Welfare to another height and the financial donation has been increased by manifolds due to collective efforts of all and it is our duty to give treatment to the police officials injured while they were performing duties,” he also said.

“DMP has been giving stipends to the meritorious students for their uplift and we all together are doing all the things successfully,” he continued.

High officials of the DMP were present on the occasion, reports BSS.
