Level-playing field prevails: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda on Tuesday once again claimed that there is a level-playing field for the forthcoming 11th parliamentary elections billed for December 30.

"A congenial election atmosphere prevails in the country. Although a few stray incidents took place, now everything has been fixed. All are conducting electioneering as there's a level-playing field. A record number of candidates are contesting the election this time," he said.

The CEC was addressing a meeting on the law and order in three hill districts at Rangamati Tribal Cultural Institute ahead of election.

Nurul Huda asked the election officials to remain alert so that no political party or individual can establish control over polling centres on the election day, reports UNB.

He also directed them to ensure so that no one can influence the voters.

Election Commissioner Brig Gen (retd) Shahadat Hossain, EC Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed, Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Abdul Mannan, DIG of Chattogram Range Golam Faruque, Chowdhury Mohammad Azizul Haque Hazari of Chattogram 24 Infantry Division, deputy commissioners and superintendents of police of the three Chattogram hill districts and officials concerned attended the meeting.
