A drug suspect has allegedly been killed in a shootout with RAB in Natore’s Baraigram Upazila.

The gunfight occurred near the Katashkol Akhroy Kendra at around 1:30 am on Monday, the RAB Natore Camp said in a statement.

The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Sirajul Islam.

Sirajul was a ‘known drug dealer’, said Baraigram Police OC Dilip Kumar Das. Five cases had been filed against him at various police stations in Natore.

According to the press release, RAB had conducted a raid in the area after hearing that several drug dealers had gathered there, bdnews24 reported.

“The drug dealers noticed the RAB presence and opened fire. RAB retaliated. At one point the dealers fled and one injured person was recovered from the scene.”

He was rescued and taken to the Baraigram Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead, the RAB statement said.
