Maritime ports have been advised to continue hoisting local cautionary signal number three as the well marked low over North-West Bay and adjoining area is moving slightly westward.

“The low is likely to intensify further and move in a west-northwesterly direction… under its influence steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay and adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh,” said a met office warning message in Dhaka on Monday.

Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra, North Bay and adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh, according to the message.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.

Moreover, river ports of the regions- Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet have been asked to hoist cautionary signal number one till 6:00pm today, reports BSS.

The met office advised to hoist the signal as rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary south or southeasterly gusty or squally wind speeding 45-60 kph is likely to occur over the regions.
