Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said the government does not want any children to remain unschooled as an educated nation is urgently needed to ensure 'Golden Bangladesh' as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

"Education is a kind of light…this light helps human being to flourish. So, no child should remain outside this light and that’s our aim," she said, reports UNB.

The Prime Minister said this while handing over awards to 12 meritorious students selected at the national level through Creative Merit Searching Competition-2019 across the country at her official residence Ganobhaban.

She said the government has formulated a policy to this end and is implementing that.

Sheikh Hasina said the world is moving forward fast as the present era is the era of science. "This is not possible to achieve anything without practising science, acquiring education and without research," she said.

The Prime Minister mentioned that Bangladesh became self-reliant in food production through continuous research by its scientists and researchers while the government has patronised them.

She said the country achieved its independence while the nation got self-dignity, identity and state in exchange of huge sacrifice. "Our aim is to build the nation in a proper way, put it in a dignified place before the world. To build a golden Bengal, we need an educated nation.”

Hasina said the government is taking every programme and long-term plan after proper evaluation so that this nation could stand on the global stage with its head high.

Mentioning that this country has a history of sacrifice, the Prime Minister said this nation was deprived of knowing its own real history of victory in the Liberation War. "Children used to be taught distorted history. If anyone starts learning with tampered or false history then his or her life also becomes deceitful."

Hasina said now educational curricula have been made for the development of the country considering Bangladesh’s geographical position and its climate and population.

She said the government is taking necessary measures to build the future generation of the country properly.
