Nurul Haque Nur has said he will take charge on Saturday, capping all speculations about the inauguration of the newly elected leader of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU).

Speaking at a press conference at the Madhu’s Canteen on the campus on Friday, he said he took the decision to join the inauguration following “general students’ approval”, according to bdnews24.com.

Protests demanding fresh polls and against allegations of irregularities and vote rigging in the Mar 11 elections will, however, will continue, he added.

“We’ve took the decision after discussions with the Dhaka University’s general students. Along with them, we also think that we should take charge and continue the movement, and that’s what I will do,” he said.

Besides the VP’s post, Bangladesh Council to Protect General Students’ Rights candidate Akhtar Hossain won the social services secretary post.

The ruling Awami League’s student BCL won the 23 other posts in DUCSU and most posts in the hall unions.

Independent candidates dominated the female hall unions.
