Planning minster MA Mannan Sunday announced for a comprehensive training institute for people who work with statistics.
Inaugurating a training workshop for the statistical officials, the minister said proper data is unavoidable for proper policy making.
And well-trained statistical people and enumerators are needed for more accurate data in a survey or census, he said.
The observation came at the inauguration of a three-day training for the divisional and district level census coordinators on the eve of sixth agriculture census of the country to be conducted between June 9 and June 20 across the country.
Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) organised the training held at its conference hall.
Agriculture secretary Md Nasiruzzaman, statistics and informatics secretary Saurendra Nath Chakrabarty, fisheries and livestock secretary Raisul Islam Mondal, BBS director general Dr Krishna Gayen, among others, addressed the programme.
Project director of the Agriculture Census 2019 Jafor Ahmed Khan coordinated.
