PM orders expediting projects maintaining quality

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed all concerned to implement various projects in a faster manner, maintaining the quality and standard of works and strengthen monitoring in this regard.

The Prime Minister gave the directive in her introductory speech at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) held at Sher-e Bangla Nagar on Tuesday.

It was the first meeting of Ecnec after formation of the new government led by Sheikh Hasina for the third consecutive term following the massive victory of Awami League in the national election.

"The country witnessed massive development and progress during the last two terms of Awami League government due to continued, sincere and coordinated efforts of all concerend," Sheikh Hasina said.

She said many new projects were approved, particularly in the last few months of the last term of her government.  She put emphasis on expediting the work of these projects to implement those on time maintaining their quality and standard.

The Prime Minister said, "All will have to work with utmost sincerity and integrity to improve the lives and livelihoods of common people who kept trust and confidence in Awami League in the last general election."

She underscored the need for undertaking plans to change the fate of the grassroots people and remove poverty in a faster way.

Sheikh Hasina said assuming office for the next five years after winning the election, she first reorganised her cabinet to achieve the specific targets of her government.

She mentioned that the country already achieved 7.86 per cent GDP growth rate and has now been recognised as a developing country.

She stressed keeping up the pace of development in the days ahead.

For the purpose, Sheikh Hasina asked all concerned to undertake and scrutinise various development projects as well as keeping up their vigilance and monitoring to implement those properly.

She laid emphasis on strengthening their efforts to further increase the GDP growth of the country.

The Prime Minister said her government wants to establish Bangladesh as a middle-income country by 2021 and a developed and prosperous one by 2041, implementing long-term perspective plans of her government.

Keeping all this in mind, the authorities concerned will have to undertake necessary plans, she said.

The Prime Minister hoped that the new cabinet would be able to reach the desired goal of establishing Sonar Bangladesh through their team work like the past as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh MujiburRahman.
