Police data centre project likely to get ECNEC approval

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) is likely to approve police data centre capacity enhancement project on Tuesday.

The Planning Commission has already sent the project to ECNEC for approval in its Tuesday's meeting, reports BSS.

The government has decided to install a centrally controlled data centre having security, reliability, tier-III (Tier-III Complainant) for Bangladesh Police that will improve law and order for contributing towards the socio economic development in the country, according to the PC.

The ECNEC meeting will be held on Tuesday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

According to the project, Bangladesh Police under the Ministry of Home Affairs will implement the data centre project from July 2018 to June 2021.

Under the project, the number of online application will be increased alongside upgrading the existing applications aimed at ensuring e-policing.

Bangladesh Police has taken a decision to improve the existing data centre as ‘State of the Art Data Centre’ to host the planned applications, which would use for e-services, the project details said.

It said after approval of the project, some 42 set computers along with accessories would be collected and 11 software would have to be developed and furniture and other establishments.
