AL to celebrate win in month of victory: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday said the party will celebrate the election victory in the month of victory by bagging the maximum seats in the 11th parliamentary election.

“Awami League under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will clinch another victory in the month of victory. We will win in the December 30 national election… Inshallaha,” he said, speaking at the inaugural function of the electoral campaign of AL Publicity and Publication Sub-Committee in front of Central Shaheed Minar in the city, reports BSS.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said a mass wave has been created in favour of ‘Boat’, the electoral symbol of AL, across the country. On the other hand, the popularity of BNP has been decreasing day by day, he added.

He said the people of the country would opt for honest, courageous and sagacious leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the spirit of the Liberation War in the next elections. It will also prove that the countrymen is not in favour of the communal forces -- Jamaat and BNP, he added.

The AL general secretary said, “Our vow is to become victorious in the polls and uphold the spirit of Liberation War by defeating communal forces. We will defeat the communal forces led by BNP like 1971 when we defeated Pakistani occupation forces under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”

Quader said BNP is a corrupt party who became champions five times in corruption. Life time convicted and fugitive Tarique Rahman is leading the party, he said. Politicians like Dr Kamal Hossain, Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Sulatan Mansur, Mostafa Mahsin Mantu and Kader Siddiqui are doing politics under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, he added.

Eminent actor Syed Hasan Imam, Architect Yeafes Osman, eminent singer Monoranjan Shil Ghoshal, Sammilita Sangskritik Jote President Golam Quddus, actors Raisul Islam Asad, Mahfuz Ahmed, Jahid Hasan, Shakil Khan, Saimon, actress Nutun, Aruna Biswas, Rokeya Parchi, Shomi Kaiser, Azmeri Haque Badhan, Sweety, Tarin, former national footballer Ashraf Uddin Chunnu, singer SD Rubel, among others, were present on the occasion.

Later, they took part in a poll campaign boarding on decorated trucks. After parading different city streets the campaign ended in front of Dhanmondi 32.
