RAB raids Jubo League leader GK Shamim’s business

The Rapid Action Battalion has raided a business owned by Jubo League leader Golam Kibria Shamim alias GK Shamim, two days after the arrest of Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan, another leader of the organisation, reports bdnews24.com.

A RAB team surrounded a building in the Dhaka’s Niketan area on Friday, RAB Additional Director General Tofayel Mustafa Sorwar told bdnews24.com.

Some of Shamim’s bodyguards were also arrested rom the building, RAB officials told bdnews24.com.
Shamim is known as an influential contractor in the neighbourhoods of Sabujbagh, Basabo and Motijheel.

He made it to the headlines for his influence over the Public Works Department to secure contracts.

Once a Jubo Dal member, Shamim joined the Jubo League and identified himself as the cooperative affairs secretary of the organisation’s central committee, according to the local media.

Shamim, son of Afsar Uddin Master from Narayanganj, lives in Banani DOHS and uses the establishment No. 144 at Road 5 in Niketan as the address for his company, GKB & Company.

Shamim reportedly used six armed bodyguards for protection.
