A suspected robber has died in a ‘shootout’ with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Chittagong

Robbers attacked a car with wedding revellers aboard at Kumira Bridge in Sitakunda Upazila around 3am Friday. The passengers reported the matter to RAB after the robbers looted valuables from them and fled away, RAB-7 Staff Officer ASP Mimtanur Rahman said.

“A RAB team reached the bridge where the robbers were sorting out the looted goods. They opened fire prompting the force to retaliate. A man aged around 35 was found lying dead on the ground after the robbers fled the scene,” said ASP Rahman.

The elite force recovered firearms and looted goods including mobile phones and gold jewelleries from the scene, according to Rahman, reports bdnews24.

He said the car was headed to Laksham from Hathazari.
