RAJSHAHI, Jan 9:  Rajshahi silk factory is going to restart operation once again after 16-years of closure. Fazley Hossain Badsha, Member of Parliament of Rajshahi sadar constituency, has taken up steps to reopen the factory as soon as possible.

Fazley Hossain Badsha on Sunday noon visited RSF and himself tested the machineries by operating the throwing yarn machine and the power looms. He expressed his satisfaction over the ongoing preparation of reopening the factory and said, the works of restarting the silk factory of Rajshahi is nearing completion. All the machineries of the mills have been repaired and renovated. Within a short time the Secretary of Ministry of Textiles and Jute will visit the factory.

Fazley Hossain Badsha said, he was doing everything to restart the closed silk factory once again. Last month, a power loom unit of the factory start manufacturing silk fabric experimentally. Silk yarn is also being carried to the stores of the factory from various places of the country so the mills of the factory do face shortages of raw materials during its operation.

On the plea of shortage of capital, the then government declared the  operation of the factory closed on November 30, 2002. The factory is once again going to resume its operation as per the direction and direct intervention of parliamentarian Fazley Hossain Badsha.

To save the traditional silk of Rajshahi, Bangladesh Reshom Board, Banglasesh Sericulture Research and Training Institute and Silk Foundation were merged together and Bangladesh Silk Development Board was formed in 2013. Fazley Hossain Badsha was selected as the Senior Vice President of the Board. Soon after the restructure of Bangladesh Silk Development Board, Fazley Hossain Badsha took initiatives to restart the closed silk factory.
