Rivals hack C&F agent dead in Benapole

A trader was hacked to death allegedly by his rivals at Kazirber in Sharsha upazila of Benapole in the early hours of Thursday.

The hacked trader was identified as Zahidul Islam Zahid, 32, a C&F agent and son of Abdur Jabbar Tarafdar of Narayanpur village in Benapole.

Quoting locals, Mashiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station, said Zahidul gave Tk 0.7 million to Beauty Khatun, wife of Jharu Dalal, for sending him to abroad. Later, instead of sending Zahid to abroad as promised, Beauty cheated him out of the money.

Zahid locked into altercations several times with Beauty over the issue.

On Wednesday night, Beauty called Zahid to her home in Kazirber village saying to return the money. When Zahid went there, Beauty and her accomplices stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him dead.

The murderers then sacked and dumped the body into a banana orchard.

After an investigation, police recovered the body and sent it to local a hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Police arrested five people - Beauty Khatun, her daughter Sumi Khatun, 24, Rahima Begum, 50, wife of Muktar Ali, Ferdousi, 32, wife of Khalid and Khalid's son Al-Amin in connection with their suspicious involvement in the killing, reports UNB.

During primary interrogation, Beauty admitted her guilt, said the OC.
