Two get death penalty for murder in Natore

A Natore court on Thursday sentenced a man and his friend to death for killing his wife in 2016.

The convicts were identified as Shahmim, 26, son of Shahajamal and Ramijul Alam, 23, son of Nur Islam of Kurigram district.

After examining records and witnesses, Natore District and Session Judge Rezaul Karim handed down the verdict, reports UNB.

According to the prosecution, Rozena Parvin Rupali, 22, wife of Shahmim and daughter of Abdur Razzak of Lalmonirhat district had gone missing from Bogra, where she worked, on December 22, 2016.

Later, the charred body of Rozena was found from a filed in Do-Pukuria village in Singra upazila, three days after she had gone missing.

Abdur Razzak, father of the victim filed a case with Singra Police Station. Police arrested the due on December 27, 2016.

Later on March 31, 2017, police submitted charge sheet accusing Shahmim and Ramijul. They gave confessional statements before the court admitting their guilt.

However, the convicts secured bail from the High Court and went into hiding.

Later, the District and Session Judge court issued warrant for the arrest of them.
