Two get life term for killing college student in Kishoreganj

A court in Kishoreganj on Wednesday convicted two people and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for killing college student Shafiq Azad in 1999.

The convicts are Piplu and Sajib, son of Fazlur Rahman Mallik of the area.

The court also fined them Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer six months more rigorous imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, Shafiq Azad, a first year student of Accounting Department at Wali Newaz Khan College, was hacked to death by a group of miscreants at Jalsa Mor area in the region.

Soon after the murder, victim's uncle Alamin filed a case was with Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station in this connection.

Police then submitted charge sheet against four people after investigation, UNB reported.

After examining the records and witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Abu Taher handed down the verdict acquitting four other accused.
