Journalists pay last respect to Saleh Chowdhury

Journalists on Saturday paid rich tributes to senior journalist and freedom fighter Saleh Chowdhury as his body was kept at National Press Club (NPC) to allow fellow newsmen, colleagues and admirers to have last glimpse of him.


His second Namaj-e-janaja was held at the NPC after Asr prayers.


A contingent of police offered the guard of honour and salutes as somber looked admirers and journalists stood in solemn silence at the NPC premises against the backdrop of last post in bugles also recalling his contribution to the 1971 Liberation War.


Earlier, his first namaj-e-janaja was held after Zohr prayers at a local mosque near his residence at Basundhara residential area.


Chowdhury died of cancer at a Dhaka hospital on last night at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife and three sons. – BSS
