Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) chairman Andaleeve Rahman Partho on Monday announced that his party has left BNP-led 20-party alliance.

Partho made the announcement in Dhaka on Monday evening in protest against the BNP’s decision to let its MPs-elect take oath of office, reports bdnews24.com.

BJP is a splinter group of the original Jatiya Party that was founded by former President HM Ershad.

Andaleeve's father Naziur Rahman Manzur was a leader of Ershad-led Jatiya Party and one of the influential ministers during Ershad's tenure.

Manzur formed the BJP in 2001 after developing policy differences with Ershad in early 2001.
