Assailants stab AL leader dead in Naogaon

A local leader of ruling Awami League, who was stabbed in Aranagar of Dhamoirhat upazila in Naogaon on Monday afternoon, died at Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) on Tuesday morning.

The deceased Mashiur Rahman Babu, vice-president of Aranagar union AL, had a long dispute with one Yousuf Ali over a piece of land, said Mohammad Jakirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Dhamoirhat Police Station.

Following the dispute, Yousuf and his followers swopped on Babu and stabbed him indiscriminately on Monday afternoon, leaving him critically injured.

Babu was first taken to Patnitola Health complex from where he was referred to RMCH as his condition deteriorated, UNB reported.

Later, he succumbed to his injuries around 8:10 am at RMCH, said the OC.
