Biman hijack bid: Pilot, crew honoured for bravery

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has awarded the pilot and cabin crew of BG-147 aircraft for their bravery and courage for foiling a ‘hijack’ bid on February 24.

Biman Managing Director and CEO Captain Farhat Hasan Jamil handed over the certificate and crest at a programme on Sunday, according to UNB.

Those who have been honoured are - Captain Mohammad Golam Shafi, first officer Muntasir Mahbub, Shafiqua Nasim Nimmi, Hosneara, Sharifa Begum Ruma, Saheduzzaman Sagar, Abdus Sakur Mozahid.

Besides, Biman also awarded its IT staff - Tapu Barua and Zahirul Alam Chowdhury - for their courageous role in extinguishing fire at the Data Center of Biman's main office.

On February 24, a miscreant identified as Polash Ahmed attempted to hijack a Dubai-bound flight of Biman at Chattogram airport.

Foiling the bid, the crew members and pilot made emergency landing at the airport. The miscreant was later killed by members of joint forces.
