The BNP will take to streets in case the government refuses to hold the next parliamentary election under a supportive government as per its demands, the party has threatened.

Its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the threat while speaking after offering munajat at the grave of Maulana Bhashani in Tangail’s Santosh on Friday marking his 41st death anniversary.

“The upcoming election will have to be held under a supportive government as per our demands to ensure participation of all parties and to make it fair and acceptable to all of them,” Fakhrul said.

“Otherwise we will go for a movement...” he said, urging the party leaders and activists to get united bracing for that movement.

The BNP boycotted the last general election in Jan 2014 as the then government did not hold the election under a ‘neutral’ administration.
