Drug suspect dies in Jashore ‘shootout’

A suspected drug pedlar was killed in a reported gunfight between two groups of drug traders at Samta village in Sharsha upazila of Jashore early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Azizur, 40, son of Jeher Ali of the village.

Being informed that there was a shooting incident between two groups of drug traders in the village, a team of police went there, said Moshiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station.

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the gang members fled the scene.

Later, police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy, UNB reported.

The victim was accused in several drug-related cases, said the OC.
