Ten cos account for 21pc turnover on DSE

Fortune Shoes tops the chart for fourth consecutive session

Ten most traded companies accounted for 21 per cent transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), with the Fortune Shoes leading the turnover chart for the fourth straight session on Monday.

Market insiders said the news that the Fortune Shoes signed an agreement with New York-based Steve Madden for export of Shoes for US$ 4.0 million lured investors to buy Fortune shares.

According to the DSE data, about 5.43 million shares of Fortune Shoes were traded on Monday, generating a turnover of Tk 209 million, making up 4.50 per cent of the DSE's total turnover.

The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 4.64 billion on the day, up from Tk 3.68 billion in the previous session.

The shoemaker's share traded between Tk 37.10 and Tk 41.30, before closing at Tk 37.80, losing 4.79 per cent over the previous day.

The Square Pharma came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 125 million changing hands. The second largest market-cap company's share closed at Tk 247.60, shedding 2.33 per cent over the previous day.

United Power clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 105 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 1.16 per cent to close at Tk 375.10 each.

The Federal Insurance emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 95 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 15.50 each, losing 4.32 per cent.

Sea Pearl Beach Resort notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 88 million changing hands. The company's share price plunged 6.89 per cent to close at Tk 36.50 each.

The turnover of Sinobangla Industries was Tk 80 million. The company's share closed at Tk 67 each, shedding 0.59 per cent.

Monno Ceramic featured a turnover of Tk 74 million. The company's share price advanced 4.97 per cent to close at Tk 135.20 each.

National Life Insurance featured a turnover of Tk 66 million. The insurer's share closed at Tk 265.20, losing 0.71 per cent.

The turnover of Grameenphone was Tk 64 million. The company's share price shed 0.86 per cent to close at Tk 322.50 each.

The BATBC also made its way to the day's top 10 turnover chart, with shares of Tk 64 million changing hands. The multinational company's share price fell 3.04 per cent to close at Tk 1,219.70 each.
