Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal has return home Tuesday afternoon from the United Arab Emirates, sustaining a fracture on his left wrist during Bangladesh’s Asia Cup opening match against Sri Lanka on Saturday.

The left-handed batsman landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5.20 pm, BCB sources said.

It was the worst possible start for Tamim, who not only had to leave the first game of Asia Cup against Sri Lanka with a hand injury but also has now been ruled out of the entire tournament.

However, despite his injury, the southpaw opener came out to bat after the fall of the ninth wicket and essentially batted with one arm, according to BSS.

That made all the difference for Bangladesh as Mushfiqur Rahim’s career-best ODI score helped Bangladesh post 261.
