Opener Imrul Kayes scored a brilliant century to help Bangladesh recover after a shaky start and score 271-8 in their first match against Zimbabwe in the three-match series at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on Sunday.

After losing two quick wickets of Liton Das and Fazle Mahmud in the sixth over, Bangladesh was reeling at 17-2.

However, useful contributions from Mohammad Mithun and later by Saifuddin helped Bangladesh put up the fighting score.

Imrul top scored with 144, followed by Saifuddin with 50.

Mithun also chipped in with a useful contribution of 37.
