DSE inches down in early trading

Stocks on Dhaka bourse declined marginally in early hour of trading Tuesday as losers took control over the gainers.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) initially started the session with a positive note, only to witness a fall shortly afterwards. After 10 minutes of trading, DSEX, the broad index of the country's premier bourse went down below the starting mark following the mixed performance of major sectors.

After one hour of the session, the DSE broad index settled at 5330.90 points with a loss of 0.32 per cent or 17.15 points.

The Shariah based index (DSES) advanced marginally while blue chip index (DS30) declined on the DSE.

The turnover value stood at Tk 1.84 billion on the DSE when the report was filed at 11:30am.

Of the total issues traded till then, 69 advanced, 181 declined, 50 remained unchanged.

Among the key sectors, banking was in correction mood. On the other hand, engineering, fuel, and power displayed a mixed performance.

Dragon Sweater and Spinning was on the top of turnover chart followed by BBS Cables, Nahee Aluminum and Composite, The Peninsula Chittagong, and KDS Accessories.
