Bangla Trac Group, BPDB ink power purchase deal

Bangla Trac Group has inked a power purchase agreement with the state-owned Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) to buy a total of total 400mw power recently, said a statement.

State Minister of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources of the Government of Bangladesh, Nasrul Hamid was the Chief Guest at the event.

Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus, Secretary, Power Division; Engr. Khaled Mahmood, Chairman, BPDB and Tarique Ekramul Haque, Managing Director, Bangla Trac Group, were also present at the agreement signing event.

According to the agreement, Bangla Trac Group through its subsidiaries – Acorn Infrastructure Services Unit-3 Limited, Bangla Trac Power Unit-1 Limited & Bangla Trac Power Unit-2 Limited will install a 100MW furnace oil-fired power in Jhulda, Chittagong,a 200 MW diesel-fired plant in Daudkandi, Comilla and a 100MW diesel-fired power plant at Noapara Jessore.Out of this 400MW, HSD 300MW will be added to the national grid by February 2018 and the rest 100MW HFO is scheduled to be added by May 2018.

Tarique Ekramul Haque, Managing Director, Bangla Trac Group signed the agreements on behalf of the project implementing companies.

He expressed his gratitude towards the Government of Bangladesh and BPDB for relying on Bangla Trac Group with the contracts. He also sought necessary co-operation from relevant government authorities for the successful completion of the projects within the stipulated time.

Mohammad Aminul Haque, Chairman of Bangla Trac Group, expressed satisfaction on the speedy awarding of the projects and assured to implement the project ensuring international standard.
