West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday greeted everyone on the occasion of Eid -ul-Fitr.

“We extend our greetings on the happy occasion of Eid. Eid Mubarak. May the Almighty’s blessings be with you and the entire country,” she said in a message.

“Today’s rain is like a blessing for you, after the grueling month of Ramzan that you have endured,” the chief minister said.

“This Eid will bring a new dawn in your lives. If someone tries to harm you, they will have to face the consequences,” Ms Banerjee said.

“You have taken a significant part in building our society and I’m the greatful for that. The whole state of Bengal is thankful for that. You have always helped in upholding the secular character of the

state; we acknowledge that and promise that we will fight together in our battle for equality. Do not be afraid,” she said.

The chief minister said the crescent moon of Eid marks the success of your endeavor, brings love for everyone brings happiness to all, brings a new dawn for all of us.

Ms Banerjee said Bengal has always been in the forefront of India’s tradition of communal harmony.

“Jai Hind, Joy Bangla,” she added.
