Mahbubur Rahman has been elected as EBAC Chairman unanimously.

In the 12th biennial meeting of the Advisory Council of United Nations Economic & Social Commission for Asia & the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) Mr. Mahbubur Rahman has been elected unanimously as Chairman of the ESCAP Business Advisory Council (EBAC). Consisting of eminent business leaders representing a wide range of business from across the Asia-Pacific Region, EBAC was established in 2004 in Shanghai, China.

UN-ESCAP established EBAC with the aim of providing business perspectives on development issues in the Asia-Pacific region to the member governments as represented in the legislative bodies of ESCAP; in particular to the Committee on trade and investment, and the ESCAP Commission as well as provide advice to the ESCAP Secretariat on its programme and projects, said a media release.

It may be mentioned that, the first-ever Asia-Pacific Business Forum (APBF), a region-wide multi-stakeholder business conclave was held in Dhaka during 8-9 February, 2017 at the recommendation of EBAC. It was jointly organised by ICC Bangladesh and UNESCAP under the patronage of the Ministry of Commerce. The Dhaka Forum was the 13thMeeting of APBF since its inception in 2004.

Mr. Mahbubur Rahman is also the President of International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh - The world Business Organisation; Chairman of Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC)-The Institution of Alternative Dispute Resolution; Chairman of Eastland Insurance Company Ltd.; Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI).

He is also a Member of the Board of Governors of Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of the University of Dhaka and a Member of the Board Directors of Karnaphuli Fertilizer Co. Ltd. (KAFCO) - a multinational company comprising Bangladesh, Japan, Denmark, and The Netherlands.

Mr. Mahbubur Rahman, Chairman & CEO of ETBL Holdings Ltd. has recently been appointed as an Arbitrator of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC). Mr. Rahman has also served as President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FBCCI), President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), Founder Vice President of SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) and Vice-President of Islamic Chamber of Commerce & Industry-(OIC countries).
