Mustafiz for combined efforts to achieve cent literacy by 2030

Primary and Mass Education Minister Advocate Mustafizur Rahman today (Sunday) urged everyone to work together to attain cent per cent literacy rate by 2030.

“It is possible to achieve literacy for everyone before 2030 if we work together,” The Minister made the call while addressing a meeting on ‘Present Status of Literacy and Next Actions for Underprivileged Children’ at VIP lounge of National Press Club in Dhaka.

Save the Children and Manabik Shahajya Sangstha (MSS) jointly organised the event marking the International Literacy Day 2018.

The meeting began with the sharing of experiences and expectation of Runa, Shawon, Shaikat and Sohan who are underprivileged children from Rayerbazar and Chand Uddyan areas while parents of underprivileged children also shared their feelings.

The Daily Bhorer Kagoj Editor Shyamal Dutta, Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Senior Editorial Advisor Prof Shafi Ahmed, Popular Singer Ferdous Ara, Save the Children Country Director (Education Sector) Bushra Julfikar, Shishuder Jonno- Save the Children Program Director Hosne Ara Khondokar, MSS Executive Director (acting) Zakir Hossain and Apon Foundation Executive Director Md Aftabuzzaman also attended the meeting, said a BSS report.

With the support of Save the Children, MSS has been implementing the Shishuder Jonno- Integrated Childhood Development Programme (SJ-ICDP) since November of 2014.

SJ-ICDP has different programs like Early Childhood Care and Development, Basic Education, Health, Protection interventions for the most disadvantaged children of Rayer Bazar and Chand Uddyan.
