UNICEF to foster BD’s curriculum on communication development

UNICEF is willing to work with University Grants Commission (UGC) for developing curriculum on Communication for Development (C4D) at tertiary level education of Bangladesh

To this end, a letter of understanding (LoU) was signed between the two parties at UGC Bhaban on Thursday.

Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman of UGC and Edouard Beigbeder, representative of UNICEF Bangladesh signed the LoU on behalf of their respective organisations, as per a UNB report.

The LoU aims to foster the Communication for Development (C4D) capacity of the academic institutions of the country.

Prof Abdul Mannan said C4D is very essential for socio-economic development of Bangladesh.

UNICEF's initiative to develop a curriculum on C4D to achieve results for children will play a significant role for qualitative development of higher education of Banglades, he said.

Professors Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Dr. Dil Afroza Begum, Dr. Md Akhtar Hossain, Members of UGC; Abdur Rezzaque, Director of Planning and Development Division, Dr. Shamsul Arefin, Additional Director (PR), Dr. Md Fakhrul Islam, Additional Director of ICC, Mohammad Maksudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Additional Director of IMCT Division, Md Shahin Siraj, Deputy Secretary of UGC, Yasmin Khan, Communication for Development Specialist and Hasina Begum, Social Policy Specialist of UNICEF Bangladesh, among others, were present.
