Bangladesh improves in corruption perception index

Though Bangladesh has made two steps of improvement in the corruption perception index (CPI), graft still persists alarmingly in the country, according to a report of the Transparency International (TI).

According to the CPI index that was released by TI's local chapter in Dhaka city on Thursday, the country, making its highest score of 28, stood at 17th position from the bottom of the ranking in 2017 while the score and ranking were respectively 26 and 15th a year ago.

From the top, Bangladesh's position is 143rd this year out of 180 countries while it was 145th in 2016.

Bangladesh is the second worst corrupted nation in the South Asia only above Afghanistan and fourth worst in the Asia Pacific in accordance with the CPI.
