Bangladesh reports 21 Covid-19 deaths, 1,637 infections in 24 hours

Bangladesh registered another 21 deaths from novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours to 8:00am on Monday, taking the total number of fatalities to 5,681 in the country, according to official data.

Besides, some 1,637 fresh infections were recorded during the period, pushing the total case count to 390,260, according to a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

As many as 1,627 Covid-19 patients made recovery during the 24-hour period, the release added, saying that the recovery rate rose to 78.32 per cent while the death rate remained at 1.46 per cent.

Of the deceased, 14 were men and 7 women.

The country tested a total of 15,146 samples in its 110 authorised labs during the period under review, bringing the total number of samples tested to over 2.1 million, according to the DGHS release.
