A senior officer of BRAC Bank Limited remained missing since Tuesday morning.
A report was filed with the Tejgaon Industrial Zone Police Station on Wednesday in this connection.
The report said that Islam went missing after he had left the capital’s Shyaomli for Gulshan.
“We found that Islam had owed money to many people. He used to lend money for his businesses purposes. Our investigation focuses on this,” OC Abdur Rashid said.
According to the report , Islam came to the Tejagon industrial zone from Shyamoli with a friend the previous day.
He had told his friend that he was going to the BRAC Bank headquarters in Tejgaon, but never reached there.
“His phone was found switched off since 4pm on Tuesday. He was last spotted at the Niketon Residential Area, bdnews24 reported citing police officer Rashid.
The OC said that the family did not receive any communication in the two days demanding ransom.
Islam hailing from the southern district of Barisal, lives in the capital’s Mirpur with his family.
