The students of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) have agreed to halt their movement for road safety until March 28 after receiving assurances from Dhaka North Mayor Atiqul Islam over their demands.

The announcement was made after a meeting at the mayor’s office on Wednesday evening following two days of protests by students sparked by the death of university student Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury in a road accident near Jamuna Future Park on Tuesday, reports bdnews24.com.

After the meeting, Faisal Enayet, a student representative, said that another round of talks will be held at the mayor’s office at 11 am on Mar 28.

“We will resume protests if we are not satisfied with the progress over our demands. Students all over the country will join the protest,” he said.
