A Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) candidate was stabbed to death in Shahjahanpur upazila in Bogura on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Naziur Rahman Nahid, 19, son of Matiur Rahman of Narilla village in the upazila. He was appearing at the HSC examination from Bogura Cantonment Public School and College.

Victim's brother Nasibur Rahman said Nahid was returning home together with one of his friends by a motorcycle after sitting for the Chemistry 2nd paper test at Govt Kamar Uddin College centre.

A group of miscreants intercepted the bike at Gashira around 1:45pm and stabbed Nahid indiscriminately, leaving him injured.

He was taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, said Inspector (Investigation) of Shahjahanpur Police Station Abul Kalam Azad.

The murder might have happened over rivalry with friends, he said, adding that locals caught a young man, Rabiul Islam, 20, son of Ismail Hossain of Mostail village in the upazila, after the incident and handed him over to police.

Nasibur said there was a dispute in their locality over love which went to arbitration recently and Nahid was involved in the matter, reports UNB.
