Five people, including three members of a family, were killed by lightning strikes in Kaliganj and Ashashuni upazilas of Satkhira district on Friday.
In Kaliganj upazila, a thunderbolt struck three members of a family when they were sitting at the yard of their house at Garaimahal village at around 10:00 am, said Rajib Hasan, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station.
The deceased were identified as Alamin Hossain, 22 and Rabiul Islam, 20 — sons of Adam Gazi and Alamin's wife Sabina Khatun, 18, reports UNB.
Besides, , Mansur Ali Gazi, 50, son of Hatim Ali of Bijoynagar village, was killed as a steak of thunderbolt struck him while he was working in a water body at the village, said police.
In Ashashuni upazila, Jewel Sardar, 25, son of Kabir Sardar of Madra village, was killed by lightning while returning home from a fish enclosure in the morning, said Abdus Salam, officer-in-charge of Ashashuni Police Station.
