One held with 85,000 Yaba tablets in Chattogram

Detectives in a drive arrested a suspected drug trader along with 85,000 Yaba tablets from a covered van at Firingi Bazar Bridge ghat in Chattogram on Wednesday night.

The arrestee is Md Rafiqul Islam, 48.

Deputy Police Commissioner (public relations) Mirza Sayem Mahmud of Chattogram Metropolitan Police said that on secret information, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted the drive in front of Mamtaz Hotel near BIWTA office at night and halted a covered van on suspicion.

Later, the team recovered the Yaba tablets from the covered van and arrested Rafiqul.

In primary investigation, Rafiqul revealed that the consignment of Yaba tablets was bought from Ramu in Cox's Bazar for supplying those to Dhaka, reports UNB.
