Two police constables of Bhaberchar Highway Police camp in Munshiganj have been closed to the district police lines for their alleged involvement in drug trading.

The accused are Constable Arif, 28, and Constable Mamun, 27.

Acting on secret information, a team of RAB-10 conducted a drive at a house in Bhaberchar College Road area of Gazaria upazila on Monday and arrested a woman named Nupur along with 5,200 pieces of yaba tablets and Tk 0.28 million cash, said Ali Reza Rabbi, company commander of RAB-10 CPSC.

Nupur confessed to the elite force that the two constables have been involved in yaba trading.

Harun-or-Rashid, owner of the house, said Arif and Masum rented the fourth floor of the building one year ago and Arif introduced Nupur as his wife, according to a UNB report.

The duo was closed to the police lines as the authorities found their involvement in drug trading, said Shafiqul Islam, superintendent of Highway police (Gazipur region).

Meanwhile, Inspector Nizam Uddin Sheikh of RAB-10 filed a case with Gazaria Police Station in this connection.
